<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At <em>Teacher Resource Cabin</em>, we believe in sparking creativity and curiosity through hands-on learning. We&#8217;re excited to introduce a brand-new resource designed for students in Grades 1-3 that bridges the gap between art, math, and science—Ephemeral Nature Art!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This resource invites students to explore the beauty of nature while engaging with important academic concepts in a fun, interactive way.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What is Ephemeral Art?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ephemeral art is a form of temporary, nature-based art made from natural materials such as leaves, sticks, rocks, or flowers. What makes it special is its fleeting nature—ephemeral art doesn’t last. Wind, rain, or even time will eventually erase these works of art, returning the materials to the earth. This makes it an ideal form of creative expression for young learners, as the focus is on the process, not the end product.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With our Ephemeral Art resource, students will discover the joy of creating temporary masterpieces while connecting with the environment around them.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.06.34 PM-1024x768.png" alt="" class="wp-image-7027" style="width:507px;height:auto" srcset="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.06.34 PM-1024x768.png 1024w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.06.34 PM-300x225.png 300w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.06.34 PM-768x576.png 768w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.06.34 PM-512x384.png 512w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.06.34 PM.png 1360w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Resource Highlights</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Slide Deck:</strong> A visual and engaging introduction to what ephemeral art is and how it ties into math and science.</li>

<li><strong>5 Guided Outdoor Activities:</strong> These hands-on activities guide students in creating ephemeral artwork while exploring concepts like patterns, symmetry, and shapes found in nature.</li>

<li><strong>Reflection Worksheets:</strong> After each activity, students have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences and solidify their understanding of the math and science concepts behind their creations.</li>
</ul>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="1024" height="770" src="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.22 PM-1024x770.png" alt="" class="wp-image-7028" style="width:501px;height:auto" srcset="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.22 PM-1024x770.png 1024w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.22 PM-300x225.png 300w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.22 PM-768x577.png 768w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.22 PM-512x385.png 512w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.22 PM.png 1360w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Choose Ephemeral Art?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>1. Quick and Accessible:</strong><br>Ephemeral art can be completed within a short time frame, making it perfect for outdoor breaks or shorter class periods. It’s a simple yet meaningful way to integrate art into your day.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2. No Materials Needed:</strong><br>Students use what they find in nature—no need to buy supplies! Whether it&#8217;s a collection of colourful leaves or a handful of rocks, these activities encourage students to see everyday objects in a new light.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>3. Eco-Friendly:</strong><br>Ephemeral art teaches students to create sustainably, using only natural, biodegradable materials. They’ll learn to appreciate the impermanence of their creations and the beauty of nature’s cycles.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>4. No Clean-Up Required:</strong><br>Because the artwork returns to nature, there’s no clean-up! This means you can focus on the experience and leave the “clean-up” to the elements.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>5. Connecting to Nature:</strong><br>These activities foster a deeper appreciation of the environment. By observing their surroundings, students begin to notice patterns, textures, and colours in nature that they may not have paid attention to before.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full is-resized"><img decoding="async" width="804" height="794" src="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.55 PM.png" alt="" class="wp-image-7029" style="width:378px;height:auto" srcset="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.55 PM.png 804w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.55 PM-300x296.png 300w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.55 PM-768x758.png 768w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.55 PM-512x506.png 512w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Screenshot-2024-10-16-at-12.07.55 PM-100x100.png 100w" sizes="(max-width: 804px) 100vw, 804px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lots of Learning Opportunities!</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Through these activities, students will explore:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Patterns and Symmetry:</strong> Whether it’s arranging leaves in a spiral or balancing stones, students encounter the natural symmetry and patterns found in the world around them.</li>

<li><strong>Shapes in Nature:</strong> Students will develop an understanding of geometry by identifying and creating shapes found in nature.</li>

<li><strong>Environmental Stewardship:</strong> By working with nature, students gain a sense of responsibility for the environment, learning that they can create without leaving a lasting impact.</li>
</ul>

<hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity"/>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We invite you to introduce your students to the world of ephemeral art, where creativity meets nature and learning goes beyond the classroom. Stay tuned for more new resources from <em>Teacher Resource Cabin</em> designed to make teaching both fun and meaningful!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Crayon resist is a fun and simple technique that combines waxy crayons and water-based paints. The process starts by drawing an image with crayons, and then covering the entire piece with a wash of watercolours or tempera paint. Because crayons are made from wax, they &#8220;resist&#8221; the paint, allowing the colours and designs underneath to shine through. This creates beautiful, multi-textured artwork.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Introducing the Farmer&#8217;s Field Crayon Resist Art Project</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our <strong>Farmer&#8217;s Field Crayon Resist Art</strong> resource is designed for Grades 1-3 and gives students the chance to explore line art in an accessible, creative way. Using the crayon resist technique, students will design their own farmer&#8217;s field landscape, with a barn, line textures, and the open sky. This assignment focuses on different types of lines such as straight, curved, and zig-zag.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This resource provides everything you need, even if art isn’t your specialty! We’ve designed this unit to be accessible to all educators.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s Inside the Resource?</h2>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>10-Page Teacher Guide and Worksheets:</strong> The guide includes step-by-step instructions and helpful teaching tips. </li>

<li><strong>32 Google Slides<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />:</strong> Use these ready-made slides to introduce the project to your class. They cover key concepts, such as the different types of lines, and provide visual examples to inspire students.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Materials Needed</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You won’t need an elaborate supply list to get started—just the basics! Here’s what you’ll need:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>White watercolour paper</li>

<li>Crayons (assorted colours)</li>

<li>Watercolours or tempera paint cakes (or tempera paint mixed with warm water)</li>

<li>Paintbrushes</li>

<li>Paper towels or cloths for clean-up</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Step-by-Step Learning</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The unit is structured to ensure students not only have fun but also understand the art concepts at hand. The <strong>Types of Lines</strong> section teaches students about the many ways they can use lines to create texture, movement, and depth in their art. They’ll then apply these lessons by drawing and painting a barn and a farmer’s field. The resource also includes a rubric to help you assess their understanding and application of line art.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Untitled-design-5-768x1024.png" alt="" class="wp-image-6611" style="width:507px;height:auto" srcset="https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Untitled-design-5-768x1024.png 768w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Untitled-design-5-225x300.png 225w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Untitled-design-5-1152x1536.png 1152w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Untitled-design-5-512x683.png 512w, https://teacherresourcecabin.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Untitled-design-5.png 1536w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Perfect for All Classrooms</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of the best features of this resource is its flexibility. Whether you teach in-person or remotely, the combination of Google Slides<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" />, printable worksheets, and easy-to-follow materials makes it adaptable to your teaching environment.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Incorporate this <strong>Farmer&#8217;s Field Crayon Resist Art</strong> project into your lessons, and watch as your students learn about art in a hands-on, exciting way. With no previous art experience required, you can create memorable lessons that foster creativity, develop fine motor skills, and deepen your understanding of artistic techniques.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Let’s get ready to create some colourful farm landscapes!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Teacher Resource Cabin is excited to launch a brand-new visual art resource designed specifically for learners in Grades 4-6. Our <strong>Self-Portrait Directed Drawing Resource</strong> provides everything teachers need to guide students through the process of creating expressive and personal self-portraits while enhancing their artistic skills. This product is thoughtfully designed to be user-friendly for educators and engaging for students, offering both digital and printable formats to fit any classroom setup.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Let’s dive into the details of each component:</strong></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">23-page Workbook/Project Outline</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <strong>23-page Workbook</strong> serves as the foundational guide for students as they work through their self-portrait projects. Each page is filled with clear, step-by-step instructions that gently introduce artistic techniques, such as proportions, facial features, line, and expression. We have carefully designed the resource to allow students to develop their own creative vision while practising essential drawing skills.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Highlights of the workbook include:</strong></h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Warm-up activities</strong> to help students loosen up their drawing hand and practice basic shapes.</li>

<li><strong>Guided practice</strong> in drawing individual features such as eyes, noses, mouths, and hair with special attention to symmetry and detail.</li>

<li><strong>Reflection questions</strong> at the end of the workbook to help students think critically about their work and progress.</li>

<li><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Line Art Self-Portrait Masterpiece Project</span></strong>: Students will create a self-portrait using different types of lines (jagged, curved, broken, dashed, spiral, straight, wavy, zigzag, etc.). They will learn how to use lines to express different aspects of themselves and reflect on their strengths, interests, and areas for improvement as artists.</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">45 slides for Google Slides<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <strong>45-slide Google Slides<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> presentation</strong> complements the workbook by providing an interactive element to the lessons. These slides are perfect for whole-class instruction, allowing teachers to guide students through the project in real-time. Each slide builds upon the previous one, ensuring that the entire class is on the same page and making it easy for students to follow along, whether they are working in the classroom or from home.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Key features of the slides include:</strong></h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Visual demonstrations</strong> of each drawing step, making it easy for students to visualize the process.</li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Teacher Guide Included!</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We know that teachers are busy, so we’ve included a <strong>1-page Teacher Guide</strong> to streamline the use of this resource. </p>
