Design an Heirloom – Family Research Project (Grade 2 Ontario Social Studies)

This project is intended as a culminating task for Grade 2 Social Studies – Changing Family and Community Traditions, aligned with the 2023 Ontario Social Studies curriculum.

Students will research all about their families. Then, they will choose an heirloom to design, either a mug, t-shirt, or jewellery. Their heirloom design will include pictures that represent their family’s traditions, celebrations, language, family members, food, and hobbies.

To research, students can use the provided graphic organizer and have a discussion with a family member about their family’s traditions, celebrations, language, family members, food, and hobbies.
