Grade 8 Science Reading Comprehension Passages and Questions

Science Reading for Content and Comprehension Passages give your Grade 8 students the opportunity to practice reading and comprehension skills while learning science content. This is perfect for a literacy activity that connects to your current science unit!

This resource addresses the NEW 2023 Ontario Language curriculum expectations. In Strand A. Literacy Connections and Applications: Cross-Curricular and Integrated Learning: A3.1 analyze and explain how the knowledge and skills developed in this grade support learning in various subject areas and in everyday life, and describe how they enhance understanding and communication. It also addresses all expectations in Strand D. Comprehension.

This resource is based on the Ontario Science Curriculum. All four Grade 8 Science units are included: Cells, Fluids, Systems in Action, and Water Systems.

Each unit has 5 READING PASSAGES, for a total of 20 readings (2-page readings)! These passages can be used for individual reading practice, shared reading, and small-group instruction.
