This FRENCH project is intended as a culminating task for Études sociales de 1re année – Domaine d’étude B. Communauté et environnement : La communauté (Grade 1 Social Studies – The Local Community). This project is aligned with the NEW 2023 Ontario Social Studies curriculum.

Students create a map of their community. They will learn about why maps are used, complete a compass rose, create labels for their map, colour in buildings and places, and place them correctly on a map. They will write a reflection on their map and community.

In the detailed lesson plan, a Project Overview for Google Slides™ is included that explains what a map is and shows examples of a local community map.
