Students will explore geometric and organic shapes as they paint a colourful pumpkin patch using different shades of orange tempera paint. They will create 10 pumpkins in a variety of shapes and sizes, including round, triangular, square, rectangular, bumpy and lopsided pumpkins.

The finished pumpkin artwork makes a bright and creative fall bulletin board display while helping students explore shape, colour, line, composition and creative expression.

This open-ended elementary art project encourages every student to create a unique interpretation. No two pumpkin patches will look the same!

A note about the workbook format:

This resource is intentionally workbook-based. It is designed to provide an accessible introduction to the elements of design, especially in classrooms with limited time, space or art supplies. 1. Le livre des collations saines (Alimentation saine)

• Students will choose a favourite healthy snack with a fruit or vegetable, protein, or whole grain, ensuring it’s allergy-friendly without nuts or allergens. Next, they will detail the snack’s recipe, ingredients, and draw an illustration. This will be compiled into a Healthy Snack Book collaboratively made by the class.

2. Mon manuel de sécurité personnelle (Sécurité personnelle et prévention des blessures)

• Students will craft a comprehensive “Personal Safety Handbook” to reinforce daily safety practices. They will complete the six handbook pages and share their handbooks with family members, fostering discussions on the importance of safety in everyday life.

3. Règles de sécurité pour les médicaments (Consommation de substances dépendance et comportements associés)

• Students will design a safety poster highlighting crucial rules for safe interactions with medicine. They will complete two template pages, with the first detailing the safety rules. Next, they will draw corresponding pictures on the second page to create a “lift-the-flap” poster. Students can proudly display their interactive rule poster near their household’s medicine storage area.

4. Livret sur la croissance (Développement de la personne et santé sexuelle)

• Students will embark on creating a “Growing Up Flipbook” to celebrate the incredible life stages humans experience as they mature. They will complete the six flipbook pages, carefully cutting them out and having an adult staple them together in sequence.

5. Roue des émotions (Littératie en santé mentale)

• Students will create an emotions spinner using the provided template. Students can spin the cover to reveal and explore different emotions. To share their creativity and understanding, they will present their emotion spinner booklets to a buddy.
