This Grade 2 and 3 Descriptive Writing Unit is designed to be completed over the course of about 21 lessons. This is a comprehensive and engaging curriculum designed to develop students’ descriptive writing skills. Expectations are given for the NEW 2023 Ontario Language Curriculum.
A detailed unit plan is provided (9 pages with day-by-day lesson plans). It has EVERYTHING you need – worksheets, slides, and engaging activities – to get your students excited about descriptive writing (c’mon …who doesn’t love popcorn?!).
The unit can be extended or shortened as needed, or divided throughout the year. For example, you may choose to start the unit with the “Descriptive Writing Introduction” lessons, then do the “Popcorn Descriptive Writing” activity around Halloween, and the “My Favourite Stuffie Descriptive Writing” activity around Valentine’s Day!
Options for in-person and virtual learning are included. In-person teachers may choose to use the interactive slides to model the task in front of students during a lesson.
