Grade 1-3 Prefixes, Suffixes, and Base Words Unit (Printable + Google Slides™)

This Grade 1 – 3 Prefixes, Suffixes, and Base Words Writing Unit has EVERYTHING you need – worksheets, slides, and reference posters – to support your student’s developing morphological knowledge. The unit includes a teacher guide to help you fit all the useful teaching content included together.

This is a dynamic package that caters to the diverse needs of learners, empowering them to decode words, expand their vocabulary, and enhance their reading and writing skills.

Each lesson included can take approximately two 30-minute blocks to complete. Fill in the rest of the Literacy block with your normal daily routine components (e.g. Read-aloud, silent reading, bell work, centres, etc.). There are 5 lessons included.

This resource is completely aligned with the NEW 2023 Grade 1 – 3 Ontario Language Curriculum. Word-Level Reading and Spelling: Using Morphological Knowledge – B2.3 use developing knowledge of the meanings of words and common morphemes (i.e., bases, prefixes, and suffixes) to read and spell words.
