This workbook covers the Personal Safety and Injury Prevention unit in the Grade 6 Ontario Health Curriculum (2019).
In this workbook, students will learn about personal safety by exploring various responsibilities and risks, and analyzing different scenarios. They will understand how to handle dangerous situations and develop safety strategies, including emergency responses to fires, hypothermia, and allergic reactions.
Students will also learn about bullying, including how to respond to cyberbullying and abuse. They will study conflict resolution, practice communication skills, assertiveness, and learn to handle conflicts in different settings such as the classroom, with friends, in clubs, sports, and online. The workbook also emphasizes the importance of being inclusive and fostering positive interactions.
There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A unit test is included at the end of the workbook.
