This workbook covers the Substance Use, Addictions, and Related Behaviours unit in the Grade 7 Ontario Health Curriculum (2019).
In this workbook, students will learn about substance use and its effects. They will start by understanding addiction and how substances affect the brain. The workbook covers influences on substance use, such as peer pressure and personal values, and the personal and social impacts of drug use.
Students will learn about addiction support services, including school supports, public health services, and helplines, and discuss making safe personal choices and abstaining from drugs.
There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A unit test is included at the end of the workbook.
