In this workbook, students learn about Développement de la personne et santé sexuelle (Human Development and Sexual Health) aligned with the new 2019 Grade 6 Ontario FRENCH Santé (Health) Curriculum.
In this workbook, students will learn about human development with a focus on the changes that occur during puberty. They will explore physical changes such as body growth, skin and voice changes, and sexual health. The workbook also covers social changes and interactions, emotional changes, and strategies for emotional management.
Students will examine gender roles, and discuss harmful stereotypes and assumptions. Topics like social inclusion, sexual orientation, and the impact of sexually explicit media are included, along with questions to encourage critical thinking. The workbook also addresses body image and incorporates teachings from the Medicine Wheel and the Seven Grandfather Teachings to provide a holistic perspective on their changing bodies.
There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A unit test is included at the end of the workbook.
