This resource includes 5 FINAL PROJECTS for each of the units in the Grade 5 Ontario Health curriculum.
Projects included:
1. Design a Cereal Box (Healthy Eating)
- Students will create and market a fun and colourful cereal box design that appeals to kids, emphasizing healthy ingredients and nutritional benefits. They will make an actual model of their cereal box using a recycled cereal box as a template.
2. Digital Citizenship Campaign (Personal Safety and Injury Prevention)
- Students will develop a campaign (video, poster, etc.) to promote safe and responsible online behaviour, highlighting ways to stay safe online.
3. Breaking News! (Substance Use, Addictions, and Related Behaviours)
- Students will write a news article about the short- and long-term effects of alcohol use, factors influencing intoxication, and strategies for making healthy decisions and refusing substance use.
4. Self-Concept Poster (Human Development and Sexual Health)
- Students will create an informative, creative poster that explores their self-concept, reflecting on how their ideas and images of themselves may change over time.
5. Mental Health Comic Strip (Mental Health Literacy)
- Students will design a comic strip that illustrates how positive attitudes and supportive actions can help someone facing mental health challenges.
