This workbook covers the Healthy Eating unit in the Grade 6 Ontario Health Curriculum (2019).
In this workbook, students will explore the importance of healthy food, understand hunger and thirst cues, and answer related questions. The workbook covers making food choices, and considering factors like food allergies, dental health, and stress. Students will reflect on how media influences body image, including social media, food advertising, and celebrity endorsements.
They will also learn about product packaging, school food policies, and create personal eating guidelines. Additionally, cultural influences on food choices and food availability are discussed, with a case study on northern groceries to provide real-life context.
There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A unit test is included at the end of the workbook.
