In this workbook, students will learn about various aspects of personal safety in the context of technology. They will start by understanding what technology is and how it enables global communication. The workbook covers computer safety tips, online communication skills, and the importance of online privacy. Students will explore the impacts of social media on mental health, learn about identity theft, password protection, and social media privacy.
Topics such as cyberstalking, online predators, and sex trafficking are addressed, including how to respond to these dangers. The workbook also includes sections on forms of bullying, particularly cyberbullying, and strategies for defusing these situations. They will research supportive people and services, understand the importance of reporting incidents, and discuss social responsibility.
There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.
