This is the first unit in the Grade 10 Ontario Career Studies (GLC2O) course, for Strand A: Developing the Skills, Strategies, and Habits Needed to Succeed.
This unit helps students build the personal skills, strategies, and habits that support success in school, work, and life. Students explore the importance of resilience and perseverance, and learn how to adapt to change, respond to challenges, and stay motivated in the face of setbacks. They examine stress management techniques, reflect on their current coping strategies, and identify sources of support for mental health and well-being. Through goal setting and decision-making activities, students learn how to set meaningful goals, evaluate progress, and revise plans as they grow in self-awareness. This unit encourages students to take responsibility for their learning, well-being, and personal development as they prepare for the future.
This unit has a variety of assessment tools such as daily workbook tasks, group and class discussions, and an optional culminating project (available separately here: Cover Letter and Resume Project).
