This is the first unit in the Grade 10 Civics and Citizenship (CHV2O) course, for Strand B: Civic Awareness.
This unit guides students in developing civic awareness through the exploration of democratic values, political perspectives, and the structure of government in Canada. Students investigate how government operates at different levels, how laws and policies are created, and how individuals and groups can influence change through civic action. Through political inquiry and reflection, students deepen their understanding of their rights and responsibilities as citizens and consider how civic knowledge can be applied to address real-world issues and promote meaningful change.
This unit has a variety of assessment tools such as daily workbook tasks, group and class discussions, a unit test with reflection, and an optional culminating project.
